Barcode generator for shop items: EAN-13 and Code 128.

Give items without a barcode their own code, then print a sheet of labels. The codes are real and scan with any barcode gun.

Which code?

EAN-13 store codes or Code 128.

EAN-13 is the 13-digit barcode on most packets in India. Every scanner reads it. Store codes here start with 200, followed by your item number and a check digit.

Code 128 can hold letters and numbers, like SHIRT-M-BLUE. Use it for your own item codes.

Important

Store codes are for your shop only.

Codes from 200 to 299 are reserved for use inside a shop. They are perfect for loose items, local brands and your own packs. If you sell packed products to other shops or online marketplaces, get your own barcodes from GS1 India.

Printing tips

Labels that scan the first time.

Keep white space

Leave a few millimetres of white on both sides of the bars. Scanners need it to find the start and end.

Not too small

On a 38 × 25 mm label, bars about 10 mm tall scan well with a normal barcode gun.

Test one first

Print one label, scan it at the counter, then print the rest. Thermal printers may need calibration on a new roll.

FAQ

Barcode questions

Which barcode should I use for items in my shop?

For items without a barcode, an EAN-13 store code that starts with 200 works with every scanner. For codes with letters, use Code 128.

Can I sell products with a 200 store code to other shops?

No. Codes starting with 200 to 299 are reserved for use inside your own shop. If you sell packed products to other retailers, get your own barcodes from GS1 India.

Will my barcode scanner read these codes?

Yes. The codes are standard EAN-13 and Code 128. Print at a decent size, keep a little white space on both sides, and test one label with your scanner first.

How do I print the labels?

Click Print labels. Choose your printer and paper in the print window. For thermal label rolls, KamaiPlus prints labels at the exact roll size.

In KamaiPlus

Codes saved on the item, labels at the exact roll size.

In the app, a store code is saved on the item before the label prints, so it scans at your counter the next day. See Barcode Studio · Label printer setup.
